Welcome to world of The Anne Fraser Theatre Dance Co.  Classes are offered for students from the age of 3 to adult.

INTRODUCTION TO DANCE

This is a specially formulated class for students from Age 3 to school age and incorporates ballet, tap, modern, mime and singing. It gives this young age group a broad introduction to the core forms of dance and encourages mental and physical co-ordination for the dancer.  They are able to take examinations ‘Introduction to Dance’ in ballet, tap and modern where students do a class with the teacher watched by the examiner.  It is lovely to see them achieve and having something to aim for encourages them to focus on their work.  This is another vital tool for this age group.  At our last examination session all our little dancers gained Distinction and stole the show last year when performing at a Company charity event.

Class Time:  Tuesdays 3.30 p.m. – 4.15 p.m.

CORE DANCE CLASSES

BALLET / TAP / MODERN

To attain the highest level of technical performance great emphasis is placed on the learning of technique in all subjects.  As with any building the base structure has to be complete and a sound knowledge of their skills allows the student to grow and perform at a higher level of competence.  That will in turn allow them to tackle the wide range of different dance styles that they will then be exposed to.

Students move onto the separate subjects ( Ballet -  Tap/Modern ) once they commence full time school.  Older age groups will eventually progress to separate subject lessons as an even greater depth is required in their learning.

Grade classes are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays depending on the age and ability of the student.

DRAMA

Tuesday:  6.00 p.m. – 7.00 p.m.

Age 10 and above

The Anne Fraser Theatre Dance Co. has a unique identity.  Our very creative choreography and performance work requires all students to bring that added sense of dramatic performance to their work.

Our Drama students are exposed to a wide variety of dramatic genres including improvisation, mime and the ability to create great depth in the characters they play.  This allows them to build confidence in their abilities, which will enhance all areas of their lives.

All students will be working towards performance and Drama examinations.

GROUP PERFORMANCE WORK

(Only open to students training with the Anne Fraser Theatre Dance Co.)

All classes throughout the school work on troupe dances which are used for performance whether it be for Shows, competition, cabaret etc.

However, this class is specifically for the major works that we undertake.  These students are able to take part in the bigger routines that are staged in greater depth.

Troupe Class:    Thursday 6.00p.m – 7.30 p.m.

Age 10 and above

NEW CLASS

DANCE FOR PERFORMANCE

Thursday 7.30 p.m. – 9.00p.m.

Age 18 and above

We have created a new class for students who want to continue with their dance training.  There are so many talented dancers who may have a lot to offer, but who have not been able to get into one of the major dance colleges or decided that university is not for them.  May be you gave up and wished you hadn’t and want to return to learn more and make use of the skills you have spent years learning.  This group will be trained to use all their skills and create new works that will build a new performance unit.  Dance styles will be diverse and all students will be required to show commitment to the group.  Our Major works are staged on a large scale, which creates a huge performance impact.

ADULT CLASSES

ADULT TAP

Monday 8.00p.m. – 9.15 p.m.

This is a lovely class.  A way to meet new friends, leave the cares of the day behind and learn at the same time.  A different way to keep fit. And have fun.

NEW

ADULT BALLET FOR BEGINNERS  (Mixed)

Age 18 and over

Tuesday:   8.00 p.m. – 9.00 p.m.

Are you one of the many who never had the chance to learn this beautiful dance style or gave up and wished you hadn’t?  This new class is for you.

Ballet is a wonderful genre for keeping fit, toning and lengthening the body and learning to appreciate the graceful fluidity and beauty that the body is able to achieve.  Dancers will start at the beginning and week by week build on their skills to enter the world of classical ballet.  (Our classes on a Friday evening is for the more experienced dancers and include pointe work).
